Here are some cars from us at The Gamers Corner.

If you want to learn more about Forza 2 go here.

Forza Motorsport 2

 Forza 2 Demo Impressions

The Forza 2 demo has hit Xbox live and if you like cars go try it out asap! The demo boasts a large amount of cars and one track to try them all out on. The original Forza was my favorite racing game of the last generation so the sequel has me definitely hyped up. There's a bunch of cars spread out among three classes these classes dictate your cars performance.

The games graphics are a bit of a mixed bag as you can see the cars do look good but sometimes the jaggies really standout. Overall I would say that it looks better than PGR3. Hopefully the developers can fine tune the graphics a little more before the games May 29th release.

What really makes Forza 2 shine is its gameplay. The cars handle very well and just feel right. The damage modeling is good but from what I've heard has been tuned down for the demo. The demo also features a cool tweak on the racing line from the original. Instead of showing a racing line throughout the whole track it can be toggled to be just displayed in the turns. Forza 2 is looking good and I can't wait for it's release later this month.

JSlug83

Anticipated Titles

Star Wars the Force Unleashed

Fable 2

Too Human

Fallout 3

Halo Wars

Mercenaries 2

Resistance Fall of Man 2

Little Big Plant

Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts

Gamer Corners Game of the Month

 January 2008

Do you like driving really fast? Do you like crashing into just about everything? If you answered yes to any of these questions then Burnout Paradise is for you. The game offers a huge free roam city that players can look for shortcuts, compete in a number of race events, and of course crash into anything that moves, or doesn't move. Online is a blast too, simply because of how seamless the online component is integrated into the single player game. Just one press of a button and your in.

JSlug83

February 2008

Lost Odyssey is a very traditional Japanese RPG. Some people will most likely find it boring or just see a game that is behind in the times. But the game offers a great story with interesting characters and a very refined yet familiar combat system. If you every played a JRPG then you know the drill - explore towns - random fights - level up - dungeon followed by a boss - repeat. If this sounds boring to you then stay away, but if you know what your getting into or you have urge to try out a JRPG then this is great place to start.

JSlug83

March 2008

Super Smash Bros Brawl is a Nintendo fans dream. Nintendo has managed to put every Nintendo character in the game one way or another. There is tons of stuff to unlock like new characters, trophies, and stickers. You can build your own levels, download user created levels, save replays, and even take screenshots. There is a single player mode and even online play (when it works). Brawl is the complete package for Nintendo fans and if you have a Wii this should be a game in your collection.

Runner Up: Bully Scholarship Edition

JSlug83

April 2008

It’s been awhile since a game has held my attention for this long. GTA IV has one of the best videogame stories in recent times, and its mulitplayer is surprising good with about 16 types of modes to tryout. Liberty City is a great place to kill some time; there is a lot to do and you’ll defiantly want to try everything out. It’s still GTA, but when was that ever a bad thing. Speaking of Libetry City the city may not be as large as the city in San Andreas, but the detail that Rockstar went into for GTA IV is amazing. You will notice a lot of little things for example when it begins to rain people in the city will pull out umbrellas, or use suitcases to sheild themselves from the rain. These little things will make you feel like Libterty City is a more real place than other ciites in the GTA series. Wether you have a 360 or PS3 this game is a must have, or at least a must play.

JSlug83

June 2008
The final chapter for Solid Snake is the best in the series. The gameplay doesn't stray far from what you would expect from a Metal Gear game, but the refinements made to the controls are a welcome addition. Most notably for me the ability to control the camera and the over the shoulder, a la Gears of War, view when going into aiming mode. Besides the controls the cut scenes are amazing and the story for the Soild Snake saga is wrapped up nicely. If your new to the series I have to wonder how much you would get out of the games story since there are are many throw backs to the pervious games, and the cut scenes can run a little long. You may even feel like your watching an interactive movie rather than playing a game. If your fan of Metal Gear and have played the pervious games this is no doubt a game you should pick up.

JSlug83

Downloads

Command & Conquer as a free download, compatible for Windows XP! There are some really great tracks like Wario's Gold Mine and of course the classics are there too...hello Rainbow Road. The whole motion control is hit or miss. It's kinda fun to play around with the wheel but if you want to win or feel in control of your kart use a controller. It's still some good simple fun and here's a shocker the online part isn't a mess like Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was able to join games with minimal wait and of the races I played there wasn't a hint of slow down. Here's some pics of the unboxing.....

JSlug83

Battlefield Bad Comany

B

Battlefield Bad Company
BioShock
BlackSite: Area 51
Blue Dragon

Recent Releases

There is no abstract available for this page revision.

TimeShift

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

JSlug83

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

The Gran Turmiso 5 Prologue demo has hit Japan and if you have a Japanese PSN account you can also give it a test drive. Well what can i say...it's Gran Turismo and boy is it pretty. This demo coincides with the Tokyo Car Show giving players the chance to drive some of the cars revealed at the show like the Nissian GTR.

Things that are new for GT5 are the garage mode where you can choose a car and from what I can tell some dudes will tend to your ride. I guessing this is where you can tune your car before each race, but thats just a guess - sounds about right. Their are about 7 cars that you can drive and the demo offers only one track. Another new feature is a in cockpit view like what we've seen in PGR3.

There some other new features like a News section and GT TV, but since there all in Japanese it's hard for me to tell what is going on. Overall the game looks nice, plays good, and the new features added make me excited for the future of Gran Tursimo. The US demo should be hitting PSN before the end of this year, but if you can't wait (like myself) follow this guide for making a Japanese PSN account.

JSlug83

Gg

 Gears of War
Gran Turismo HD

Resistance: Fall of Man

Sony needed at least one good launch title to justify that $600 price tag and Resistance fall of Man is all potential PS3 owners can depend on. The game is your standard first person shooter with you being an American soldier sent to England to help fight off the evil alien race known as the Chimera which have taken over all of Europe.
Even though you’ve most likely played this type of game many times before it still offers a good story, good multiplayer and solid gameplay. One of the games stand out features is the weapons, each having a unique secondary fire. You have your standard assault rifles and shotguns but you also get to play around with some really cool ones too. For example one gun lets you shoot through walls and set up force fields to block enemy shots. The game also has some great big levels that feel epic, especially towards the end of the game.
Some problems I had with the game is that even though it’s very good it’s still generic. If you have played a first person shooter then you know the drill. The game feels fast and that seems like the way the developers want you to play the game, but you’ll get to points where you’re taking on large groups of bad guys and your forced to take cover and slowly take them out. The game feels like a run and gun type of game which is great especially with all these cool weapons, but you’ll most likely stick to just using a few weapons simply because they are more effective than others.
Multiplayer is good but a little to fast almost Quake 3 like. And with 40 players in a deathmatch it’s almost unplayable not because of lag, there’s none of that, but because you’ll end up shooting a guy whose shooting another guy that’s shooting you. Multiplayer has some cool game modes, ranking system and it’s free. Overall this is a good launch game for the PS3 and if you like first person shooters or need something to show off your PS3 this isn’t a bad place to start.

Score: 8/10

Review by JSlug83

Gears of War

This was the game that would define what the Xbox 360 is all about. I’m happy to report that the game delivers a solid game play experience along with some of the best visuals on a console to date. This is a third person shooter with a heavy emphasis on stop and pop game play. You play the role of one Marcus Phoenix a soldier who gets busted out of prison by his buddy to help fight against a subterranean race knows as the Locusts.

The story is a bit lacking but even though what’s there is light it does manage to keep you interested. You never get to really know the characters or there back stories even though the game vaguely mentions bits and pieces of certain characters past. But you’re not playing this game for the story it’s all about the gorgeous graphics and action packed game play.

Gears of War is a beautiful game - nuff said. In terms of game play taking cover is nothing new in videogames but Gears has such a refined, yet simple, cover system that it feels like a whole new experience. Taking cover is just as easy as pressing the A button once you’re near a wall or any other object then hit A again to get out of cover. The individual fire fights and boss battles are really fun and the AI, well not perfect, can give you a run for your money. I almost forget the best part of this game – there’s a freaking chainsaw attached to your gun. That’s right you can saw baddies in half.

Overall Gears of War is a great game. The single player campaign is short but sweet, co-op is blast over live or local, and the multiplayer is fun and frantic. If you have an Xbox 360 and love action (there’s a freaking chainsaw attached to your gun! Come on) then do yourself a favor and play this game.

9/10

JSlug83
